Your journey with Liam Zamudio Counselling
Understanding what to expect can ease anxieties and help you feel more prepared. Here, we outline the process of working with me, from my unique approach to the support you'll receive at every stage.

Our unique, collaborative approach
I believe there is no one-size-fits-all solution for personal growth and healing. With a pluralistic approach to counselling, I undertake a dynamic and collaborative process. We may begin with person-centred relationship and rapport building, then utilise Cognitive Behavioural Therapy tools, solution-focused work, strength-focused work, Gestalt exercises, or even hypnotherapy. This wider range of therapeutic methods means your progress is nurtured and supported throughout the process, never stifled.

Your first step: initial contact
When you first reach out, you will be commended for being brave enough to take that initial step. Acknowledging that you need support and then asking for it is a significant act. I will arrange an initial phone consultation to discuss your circumstances in more detail. Following this, we will agree on a time and method for your first session. There is no pressure; choosing the right therapist for you is absolutely crucial to your progress.

Inside your counselling session
During our sessions, we might discuss progress on a goal or task we have set, delve into difficult problem areas from the previous week, or simply hold a space for you to express how your week has been. There is no set agenda unless you specifically want one. You will feel safe and assured in your journey, finding the process far easier than you might imagine.
"Liam has created a safe and understanding space where I feel truly heard. His flexible approach has made all the difference."

Support between sessions
Usually, if we have had a heavy session, I recommend taking some time to be kind to yourself, taking it easy, and doing something relaxing. We will signpost to different agencies if necessary, and we will work on coping strategies and relaxation techniques if you are struggling between sessions. You are absolutely not alone in this journey.
